Power Team To Win

Jonathan Santa Maria

Power To Win Team Athlete: Mixed Martial Artist

In 2007, a semi-truck hit Jonathan Santa Maria while he was riding his motorcycle. The near amputation of his leg threatened his dream of becoming a mixed martial arts (MMA) fighter, but with determination and the strong support of family and friends, he has healed. Today, he continues to train and more importantly, compete in a sport that sparked a fire in him at the young age of 12. In March 2014, seven years after his near-fatal accident, he took a first-round TKO victory at his debut in the professional circuit, the Xplode MMA Fight Series. He won his next fight in July 2014 with a win by unanimous decision.

Santa Maria currently trains with UFC Middleweight and NCAA Division I wrestling Champion Mark Muñoz and his team at Reign Training Center. His two biggest fans are daughter, Kailynn and son, Santiago who can both be heard chanting “Daddy! Daddy! Daddy! Go Daddy!” during tryouts, workouts and fights. He also makes time to give back with events like the Train-2-Care Summer H20 Drive in which he and fellow fighters collected more than 5,000 bottles of water for the homeless of Downtown Los Angeles.
